Mission Statement


The Leprosy Mission International
(TLMI) is a leading international non-denominational Christian organisation with over 130 years of experience in leprosy work.

TLMI is a worldwide partnership, active in over 50 countries, with a vision for a world without leprosy and a passion to eradicate the causes and consequences of leprosy. As long as leprosy afflicts individuals and communities, we are committed to doing all we can to break its power and impact. This means more than just a cure for the disease; it means addressing the underlying causes, working to prevent disability and restoring dignity and wholeness.

TLM serves a population of 320 million people across 244 projects in 29 leprosy-affected countries.

Modern multi-drug therapy to prevent deformity
Reconstructive surgery

Research into the leprosy genome

Schooling - removing barriers which prevent leprosy affected children continuing education
Rehabilitation - self-help groups, loans to increase economic independence
Long-term care for people who cannot be rehabilitated into the community
Vocational training in professional skills
Counselling

Supporting state programmes which provide training and technical support
Advocacy to break down the fear and stigma associated with leprosy
Integrating leprosy treatment with general medical care.
