Mission Statement

ZOA Refugee Care supports refugees, internally displaced, returnees and others affected by conflict or natural disaster in their transition from instability and lack of basic needs towards a situation in which conditions enabling a process of structural development have been re-established.
This support is practised
irrespective of race, religion or social background of beneficiaries,
through the implementation of relief and rehabilitation programmes,
by partners with local capacity and/or through ZOA’s own operational presence,
with funding from ZOA‘s own constituency, the general public and institutional donors,
according to high standards of professionalism.

Main sectors of operation in 2008
  • Basic services
    Emergency drinking water supply, food aid, basic and mainly curative health services, emergency shelter provision, site planning, distribution of non food items
  • Infrastructure
    Water, sanitation, food security, production (forestry, small scale industry) preventive and public health services, training and education, including primary education, infrastructure (roads, houses)
  • Capacity Building
    Supporting and strengthening Community Based Organisations, local NGOs and local authorities.
    Conflict resolution and peace building activities
  • Advocacy & Lobby
     Advocacy on behalf of the target groups and programme communities.
