Job Title New Relief Worker – through attendance of the Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
Country Afghanistan
Region Afghanistan, DR Congo, Madagascar, Somalia, Sudan (Northern States), Southern Sudan, Uganda
Contract Duration Minimum 1 year
Start Date 24.06.2010
Job Description

Project Overview
Working alongside local staff, our teams use their professional expertise to provide aid for people whose lives are at risk from political conflict and natural disasters. This is often in remote places where the infrastructure has broken down and outside relief is essential.
The first step in becoming a Medair New Relief Worker is to apply for the mandatory Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC).
All candidates for Medair field positions are required to complete the ROC, prior to leaving for their first field assignment. The ROC is an 8-day training and evaluation course that takes place three times a year in a European country. The objective of the course is to have candidates experience the challenges of relief work firsthand as well as to become familiar with Medair's projects and values. The ROC provides the ideal opportunity for both candidates and Medair alike to assess the suitability of future collaboration. Due to the evaluative nature of this course, Medair cannot guarantee placement upon completion of the ROC. However we aim to place successful candidates in the field as soon as possible - most assignments occur between 3 - 6 months after the ROC - it can take longer, but it can also be quicker if an individual’s profile fits an urgent need.

Responsibilities
Medair places new recruits alongside experienced field staff to train them as professional New Relief Workers.

Experience
Do you have experience in project management, financial or human resources administration, logistics, health services, water & sanitation, engineering, information technology or construction?
