European Parliament (Weiss S0.1 building) Strasbourg

The EU and its global landscape are rapidly evolving with multi-faceted and complex challenges, providing opportunities to reset our priorities. We want to explore the role of Christian values in this evolving landscape. Within this, how do Christian values such as compassion, stewardship, integrity and human dignity influence our work?

The EU vision outlined by the President of the Commission is focused on ensuring security, strengthening prosperity and democracy, amongst other things, for European strength and unity. Our vision and what we want to recommend to the EU is for global partnerships that are not undermined by this vision but rather complement it by ensuring that partner countries have an equal opportunity to secure, provide for, and protect their citizens and economies.
This Breakfast meeting is for MEPs and faith-based organisations to discuss how our proposed vision can inform our shared priorities in relief and international cooperation.

The programme will include an opening address from MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen, an intervention from EU-CORD CEO Ruth Faber, a perspective from the DRC by Mr Alexandre Bitenga, a time for reflection and discussion before a closing address by MEP Lukas Mandl.

This event is held in cooperation with EU-CORD network members Woord & Daad (Netherlands), Tearfund Netherlands, International Justice Mission (Netherlands and Germany), PMU (Sweden) and Fida International (Finland).

For more information, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the office of MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen
