Strømme Foundation is dedicated to combating poverty through education, job creation, and community building across 11 countries in Asia and Africa. By providing individuals with the tools and opportunities to uplift themselves, the foundation empowers them to break free from the cycle of poverty.
Established on 21 September 1976, the foundation traces its origins back to the fundraising efforts initiated by chaplain Olav Kr. Strømme in Kristiansand Cathedral during the early 1960s. Since 1989, Strømme Foundation has operated as a decentralized organization, with regional offices staffed solely by local employees who collaborate with local partners.
The foundation’s decentralized model ensures that the impact of its work extends far beyond its immediate interventions. By fostering partnerships and building local capacity, the foundation ensures that communities are equipped to sustain positive change long after the foundation’s involvement concludes.
