The World Council of Churches Living Planet Monitor and Call to Action
EU-CORD is partnering with fellow PaRD member, the World Council of Churches (WCC), to present findings from the recently launched Living Planet Monitor. This groundbreaking publication showcases stories and data from faith-based organisations that are driving change, inspiring hope, and modelling good practice for a flourishing planet.
The Living Planet Monitor looks at faith communities’ engagement in sustainable food systems, land stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and water justice. By tracking indicators such as food security, climate resilience, and land use, it serves as a vital tool to inform, inspire, and connect faith actors committed to ecological justice.
The first volume of the Living Planet Monitor focuses on Southern and Eastern Africa, with future editions covering other regions—Northern, Central and Western Africa in October 2025, and Asia in early 2026.
We are honoured to be joined by:
- Dinesh Suna, Programme Executive for the Ecumenical Water Network and Land, Water and Food Advocacy at the World Council of Churches
- Athena Peralta, Director of the WCC’s Climate Justice Commission, who will introduce the Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice Action: 2025–2034—a bold new initiative launched at WCC’s highest governing body meeting in South Africa, aiming to mobilise churches globally in response to the climate emergency.

PaRD (International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development) is a global partnership of governmental, intergovernmental, civil society, and faith-based actors working to advance the 2030 Agenda. Within this framework, the WECARE workstream focuses on SDGs 6, 13, 14 and 15—Clean Water and Sanitation, Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land—recognising the unique role of faith actors in tackling environmental and climate challenges. WECARE fosters collaboration, shares knowledge and good practice, and advocates for faith-based contributions that complement and strengthen global efforts to protect the environment, safeguard water, and promote climate action.
