In three meetings throughout 2025, we invite EU-CORD members and partners interested in exploring climate issues through the lens of faith to join an open conversation. Hosted by Christian (Strømme) and Nico (Dorcas), these gatherings provide a space for shared learning, discussion, and connection.
Don’t miss the final session of 2025 in our Faith, Climate and Environment Webinar series!
This session offers a rare opportunity to hear firsthand insights from COP30, directly from World Council of Churches colleagues who attended the UN Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil. They will share their observations, reflections on key outcomes, and lessons to guide faith-based action for climate justice and community resilience, as well as updates on the latest developments.
The webinar will also highlight faith engagement at the 53rd session of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS53) in Rome, where WCC, Caritas Internationalis, and World Vision International launched a joint statement on the right to food and nutrition for marginalized communities. At CFS53, Dinesh Suna, WCC Programme Executive for Land, Water, and Food Justice, moderated these discussions and will now present his reflections as a speaker in the webinar.
You will explore how climate, food systems, and human rights intersect, with a focus on regions affected by conflict such as Gaza and Sudan. As the webinar coincides with Human Rights Day, we will also consider how climate action supports justice, dignity, and the protection of vulnerable communities. The session will be moderated by Nico Smith (Dorcas Nederland)
Speakers include:
- Rev. Henrik Grappe, Coordinator of the WCC Working Group on Climate Change
- Athena Peralta, Director, WCC Climate Justice Commission
- Dinesh Suna, Programme Executive for the Ecumenical Water Network and Land, Water and Food Advocacy, WCC
- Nico Smith, Dorcas moderating
