Woord en Daad was established in 1973 by entrepreneur Ivo ‘t Lam and pastor Herman Hegger, driven by a profound desire to enact positive change in the lives of individuals living in poverty. They opted to pursue this mission through close collaboration with Christian organizations in developing countries. Over time, Woord en Daad has evolved into a development cooperation organization with a diverse network encompassing volunteers, sponsors, youth, entrepreneurs, and schools.
Operating in 18 countries globally, Woord en Daad works in partnership with local organizations, corporations, civil society groups, and governments. Through these collaborations, the organization acts as a catalyst, connecting individuals worldwide and facilitating impactful initiatives. Woord en Daad is dedicated to promoting southern leadership, actively advocating for the empowerment and involvement of local communities in driving sustainable development efforts.
